Edhi Donation Drive

The Edhi Foundation is a non-profit social welfare organization based in Pakistan. It was founded by Abdul Sattar Edhi in 1951, who served as the head of the organization until his death on 8 July 2016.

After the Death of Edhi Sahib, the donations to this foundation decreased because most of the people are emotionally attached to the Edhi sahib. So after his death, many people started collecting the donations for Edhi foundation on their own behalf to support this organization. Similarly, we also started collecting the donations for the Edhi foundation as Amal Fellows.

At the start of this activity, we thought it will be easy to get money from the people but later we found that it is very difficult to convince the people and collect money from them. But we tried our best to collect as much money as we can. We collect the money collected as well as individually. but we tried our best.

In this pandemic situation, it was also very difficult to meet the people physically and asked them for donations. So we made Posters and used social media platforms to reach out to maximum people. We asked the people of our family, our relatives, friends as well, etc. We tried our best to collect as much money as we can. In the end, we collected not a very big amount but the experience was very enjoyable and we found it very peaceful to collect the donations for the needy people and the people who truly deserve this money. All of that money is donated to the Edhi Foundation.

Due to COVID-19, we have tried our best to reach out to the maximum people by social media. This includes 300 people.

200 people, because these were our friends, family members, and people on social media the other 100 were our friend’s friends.

We were assigned a task from Amal Fellowship to collect funds for the Edhi Foundation.

Honestly speaking collecting the funds is a very amazing experience. We have not gone through this type of experience in our life. We make a poster for the Edhi fund collection and all of our group members collect funds from their friends, family members, and strangers.

Before collecting the funds we were very nervous about how would we ask someone to give us money. But we remember the Amal principle “Amal” so, we just started our work. First of all, we contact our friends and they are very amazed about our work as they are not expecting such type of work from our side so, some of our friends gave us to fund and some refused. Then we decided to collect funds from strangers it was a really tough but joyful experience for us. Most of the people refused to give funds. Sometimes we felt very disappointed but then the Amal principle “Kam Kam Kam” came to our mind and we give our best to collect as many funds as possible. So in the end, we were able to collect 4,500 from people.
